An ECU file library built on a working repair bench
AutoECUFile started in 2019 as the file archive of an ECU repair and tuning bench in Malatya, Türkiye. Every unit we read was saved under its hardware and software number so the file could be found again in seconds. In October 2020 that archive opened as an online store, and since then workshops, tuners and auto locksmiths in 153 countries have completed more than 5,000 orders for ECU files with us.
- 35,000+ECU, gearbox, airbag and dashboard files
- 5,000+completed orders since October 2020
- 153countries our customers order from
- 570+ECU families from Bosch, Continental, Denso, Delphi, Marelli and more
What an ECU file is, and how we list ours
An ECU file is the memory content of a vehicle control unit, read out with a programming tool: the flash, the EEPROM, or both. Workshops need one when a unit is bricked after a failed flash, when a used ECU has to be fitted to another car, or when they want a clean original before any modification. Our guide what an ECU file is and which types workshops buy explains the details.
A file is only useful if it is the right one. That is why every listing carries the exact numbers of the unit it was read from: hardware number, software number, software version and, where known, the engine and the tool used. We never list a file as “fits all”. Before buying, compare the numbers with your ECU label; our guide on how to read ECU label numbers shows where to find them on each brand.

How a file gets into the catalogue
- Read from a real unitEvery file starts as a read from a physical control unit on our bench or at a partner workshop.
- Identified by numbersWe record the hardware number, software number, software version, engine code and the tool used, then check them against the unit label before the file is listed.
- Checked and archivedChecksums are verified, the archive is packed with the identification in the file name, and the listing goes live with a note on what the file is for.
- Delivered instantly, kept in your accountAfter payment the file is in your account straight away and stays there for re-download. Missing version? Send us the label numbers and we source it, usually the same day.
Who we work with
Our customers are professionals: ECU repair specialists recovering bricked units, chip tuners who need a clean original before mapping, auto locksmiths handling immobiliser and key-loss jobs, and repair shops fitting a used ECU with a virgin file. The catalogue covers more than 70 makes, from everyday cars to trucks, buses, tractors, motorcycles and marine engines.
We keep the catalogue honest. If a customer reports a mismatch, the listing is corrected and the customer gets the right file or a refund. Our files are for repair, recovery and module replacement: we do not supply files, services or advice for changing odometer readings, and dashboard dumps are sold for cluster repair only.
The team
Support is handled by the AutoECUFile Technical Team, eight ECU technicians who are the same people who read and catalogue the files, so a question about a label photo is answered by someone who knows what that label should look like. Our free guides cover the jobs customers ask about most, for example recovering a bricked ECU after a failed flash, original vs virgin vs FRF files and immo off explained.
