SID807EVO Immo Off: Ford, Peugeot, Citroen and Volvo 1.6 HDi/TDCi Immobilizer Solutions

The Continental SID807EVO is the ECU of the 1.6 HDi/TDCi (DV6C, DV6D) engine shared by Peugeot 208/308/3008, Citroen C3/C4/DS3, Ford Focus/Fiesta/C-Max, Volvo V40/S60 D2 and the Mini One D. It replaced the SID807 and SID803 and is one of the most searched immobilizer cases on our site. Here is how the immobilizer works on it and what the immo off file changes.

How the immobilizer is linked

On PSA cars the BSI sends the code; on Ford the PATS system in the instrument cluster and BCM; on Volvo the CEM. A used SID807EVO carries the previous car’s data and refuses to start the engine. The clean fix is a virgin file plus pairing (automatic on PSA, IDS/VIDA session on Ford/Volvo). When pairing is impossible — dead BSI/CEM, no dealer access — the immo off file removes the check.

Identify the unit

The label reads SID807EVO with a Continental number (5WY…, S180…) and the manufacturer number: PSA 96 xxx xxx 80, Ford xxxx-12A650-xxx, Volvo 31xxxxxx. Software versions differ between brands even on identical hardware — match the manufacturer number, not only “SID807EVO”.

Reading and writing

KESS V2 and Flex read and write the SID807EVO over OBD on most versions. Bench mode with KTAG/Flex is used for locked units and for recovery. The ECU is TriCore-based and benefits from a stable 13.5 V supply during the write.

  1. Read and save the original.
  2. Match hardware/software numbers with the product page.
  3. Write the immo off (or virgin) file, checksum corrected.
  4. Ignition off/on, start. On a virgin file wait for the pairing before cranking.

After immo off

The engine starts with any mechanical key. On PSA the BSI may still show the padlock lamp for a few seconds; on Ford the PATS lamp can keep flashing — cosmetic in both cases. Fault memory may store an immobilizer communication code; clear it once.

Avoid these mistakes

  • Fitting a Ford-software ECU into a Peugeot (or the reverse) and expecting the immo off file to fix the engine parameters — you also need the original file for your car.
  • Skipping the original read; without it there is no way back and no way to verify the version.
  • Writing over OBD with a weak battery.
