Bosch EDC17C60 Virgin and Immo Off Files for Peugeot 508, 308, 3008 and Citroen C4 HDi

6 October 2026 3 min read

Peugeot 508 1.6 HDi, 2012, tow-in. The engine ECU was replaced with a used one after the original was written to death by a cheap flashing tool. Diagbox now shows the engine ECU present but the immobiliser status is not configured, and the car cranks without firing. Label: 0281032456, 9692575380, Bosch EDC17C60. This ECU is on a large share of PSA diesels from 2010 to about 2016, so it’s worth knowing the three files that exist for it and which problem each one solves.

Where it’s fitted

EDC17C60 covers the DV6C 1.6 HDi 112/115 and the DW10C 2.0 HDi 140/163 in the Peugeot 308, 3008, 5008, 508, RCZ, Partner and Expert, plus the Citroen C4, C4 Picasso, C5, DS4, DS5, Berlingo and Jumpy. Ford and Volvo cars with the same engines use different Bosch variants, so check the label rather than the engine.

Three files

  • Original. Full stock dump for your software number. Use it to recover a bricked unit or to undo a remap.
  • Virgin. The ECU with its immobiliser memory cleared, as if new. It pairs with the car’s BSI on the first ignition cycle, on most versions without any tool; Diagbox is then used for telecoding (engine variant, gearbox, options). This is the file for a used ECU going into a car with a healthy BSI.
  • Immo off. The ECU ignores the BSI handshake. For a dead BSI, a BSI from a breaker that can’t be re-coded, or off-road use. The BSI still controls lights, locking and the dash, so a dead BSI still needs replacing eventually; this file just gets the engine running.

The original vs virgin guide goes deeper on the terminology. On PSA the practical rule: healthy BSI, virgin. Dead BSI, immo off.

Numbers to match

A PSA label on this ECU carries the Bosch 0281 number, the PSA 96xx or 98xx number, and one or two software numbers (1037xxxxxx or 10SWxxxxxx). Examples from stock:

  • PEUGEOT 508 EDC17C60 0281032456 9692575380 1037555072 10SW016663 DUMP
  • PEUGEOT 508 EDC17C60 0281032456 9692575280 1037555072 10SW016661 DUMP
  • CITROEN C4 EDC17C60 0281032456 9692501580 1037555072 10SW014405 DUMP
  • PEUGEOT 308 EDC17C60 0281031043 9693310880 1037540764 10SW037985 DUMP
  • PEUGEOT 308 EDC17C60 0281034189 9693243380 10SW017935 10SW035992 DUMP
  • PEUGEOT 3008 EDC17C60 0281031864 9692576580 1037548644 10SW017267 DUMP

Note that 0281032456 with 1037555072 appears on a 508 and a C4 with different PSA numbers. The Bosch pair tells you the hardware and base software; the PSA number tells you the vehicle calibration. For virgin and immo off we work from your own read, so the calibration stays right. For a stock replacement, match the PSA number too.

Fitting a used EDC17C60, step by step

  1. Read the used ECU before fitting it. Bench or boot mode with KTAG, FoxFlash, New Trasdata or KT200 gives you the full flash and EEPROM; that’s what we need for a virgin. OBD with KESS V2, KESS3 or Autotuner gives the flash only, which is enough for a stock file or a remap but not for immo work on most versions.
  2. Send the read, both label numbers and the car’s VIN. You get the virgin version back.
  3. Write it the same way you read it. Don’t mix an OBD read with a bench write on TPROT units unless the tool explicitly supports it.
  4. Fit the ECU, plug in Diagbox, ignition on, wait. The immobiliser status should move to configured within a couple of ignition cycles.
  5. Telecode the ECU in Diagbox: engine, gearbox, particle filter, options. Skip this and you get a running car with a DPF strategy for the wrong model.
  6. Clear faults, road test, check the DPF regeneration counter is counting.

Where it goes wrong

A BSI that’s been water-damaged (C4 Picasso, front footwell) accepts the pairing and then loses it a week later; that’s a BSI job, not a file job. A used ECU with a different PSA number than the original will pair but drive badly until it’s telecoded. And a car with a keyless BSI variant sometimes needs the pairing done through Diagbox rather than by ignition cycling; if the status won’t change after five cycles, run the routine.

The EDC17C60 page lists everything by number, with virgin and immo off categories alongside. Or upload your read on the request form and tell us which of the three you need.
