Sirius 32 Immo Off: Renault Clio, Megane, Laguna, Scenic and Kangoo Petrol ECU Guide

The Siemens Sirius 32 (and its Sirius 32N / 34 variants) controls Renault petrol engines from 1998 to about 2006: Clio II 1.4 and 1.6 16v, Megane I and Scenic 1.4/1.6/2.0 16v, Laguna I/II 1.6–2.0, Kangoo 1.4/1.6, Trafic 2.0 16v and the Dacia Logan 1.4/1.6 early years. These cars are cheap, plentiful and often bought with an unknown ECU history, which keeps Sirius 32 immo off among the most searched files in our immo off section.

Renault immobilizer on Sirius 32 cars

The UCH (body computer) reads the key transponder and sends a code to the engine ECU. With a used Sirius 32, the engine either does not fire at all or starts and stops after a few seconds; the red immobilizer lamp flashes rapidly. CLIP shows DF073 / DF058 injection locked or similar. A dead UCH produces the same symptom — plus dead central locking and wipers.

Immo off, virgin or key learning?

• Immo off — the ECU ignores the UCH. Engine starts with any key. Best for a dead UCH, swaps and cars converted for track use.
• Virgin — resets the ECU so it accepts the code of your own UCH at the first start (Renault ECUs learn the code automatically when unpaired). Best for a replacement ECU with a working UCH.
• Key learning — with a working UCH and the Renault PIN, extra keys are programmed with CLIP; no ECU work needed.

Reading the Sirius 32

1. OBD: Galletto 1260, MPPS and KESS V2 read the Sirius 32 flash over K-line in a few minutes. The immobilizer data is inside the flash, so the OBD read is complete.
2. Bench: KTAG and Flex read the unit on the bench when OBD is not possible (damaged K-line, ECU not answering).
3. The label carries a Renault number 8200 xxx xxx and a Siemens number S110xxxxxx; the pair must match the file.

Writing and afterwards

Write with the same tool, battery on a charger. The engine starts at once after immo off; the lamp may keep flashing because the UCH still waits for an answer. Diagnostics, idle control and lambda regulation are unaffected. If the engine starts and dies, check the fuel pump relay in the UCH — on a failed UCH the pump may not prime.
