Fiat Ducato, Iveco Daily, Boxer and Jumper ECU Files by Year: Which ECU, Which File
A customer rings about a Ducato. That’s all you get: a Ducato, it won’t start, can you do the file. Between 2006 and today the same badge has carried at least six different engine ECUs, three immobiliser systems and two engine suppliers, so before quoting you need the year, the engine and, ideally, a photo of the label. This is the map we use to work out which file a Ducato, Daily, Boxer or Jumper needs.
2006 to 2011: Ducato X250, Daily, Boxer and Jumper 250
The Fiat and Iveco 2.3 and 3.0 Multijet engines of this period run Bosch EDC16C39 on the Ducato and on most Daily vans; the earlier Daily 2.3 and 2.8 used EDC16C8 (IVECO DAILY EDC16C8 0281011228 IMMO OFF DUMP is the typical title), so check the label on anything before 2007. The Boxer and Jumper share the Ducato body, but many of them have the 2.2 HDi from Ford on a Siemens SID unit, so a PSA-badged van is not always a Fiat ECU. All of these are 16-bit Bosch units that read over OBD with KESS V2, Galletto or MPPS and on the bench with KTAG. Immo off and original files are straightforward, and this era is where most immo off orders still come from, because the Body Computers are failing with age.
2011 to 2016: Euro 5
The 2.3 Multijet moved to Bosch EDC17C49 on the Ducato and on the Daily, alongside the 3.0 on the Daily (IVECO DAILY EDC17C49 0281030169 A107350V5LB0ABQI0A964P04.HEX 1037513112 IMMO OFF). The Ford-engined 2.2 in the Boxer and Jumper went to the Siemens SID208 (CITROEN JUMPER SID208 9676721380 9679061680). The Doblo, often bought as the small van in the same fleets, used the Marelli MJD 6F3 on the 1.3 (FIAT DOBLO MJD 6F3.D4 51843352 3456D471 IMMO OFF) and EDC17C49 on the 1.6 and 2.0. Tricore ECUs from here on: OBD reading works on most, but immo work means a bench read.
2016 to 2019: Euro 6 splits the family
This is where the PSA vans and the Fiat vans part ways. Boxer and Jumper picked up PSA’s own BlueHDi engines with Delphi ECUs: DCM6.2C on the 2.0 (CITROEN JUMPER DCM6.2C 9809447780 9693294280) and DCM7.1B on the 2.2 (PEUGEOT BOXER DCM7.1B 9824601180 9696660880). The Ducato and Daily stayed on the FPT 2.3 and 3.0, now on Bosch EDC17C69, the same unit that runs the Euro 6 Doblo (FIAT DOBLO EDC17C69 0281036039 10SW041027 10SW101146). A 2017 Boxer and a 2017 Ducato therefore have nothing in common under the bonnet, even if the cab is the same pressing.
2019 onwards
The 2.3 Multijet 3 on the Ducato and Daily moved to Bosch MD1CS003, a newer platform with a different processor and a locked bootloader on most versions. Reading is bench with Flex, Autotuner or KESS3 on the supported list; OBD is limited. Our MD1CS003 page and the earlier post on MD1CS003 original files cover it. The Boxer and Jumper carried on with the Delphi units.
Which file for which problem
- Won’t start after a used ECU was fitted. Immo off on any of the Bosch or Siemens units, or virgin plus pairing with Examiner or Multiecuscan (Fiat), Diagbox (PSA) or the Iveco tool. On the Delphi PSA units the BSI pairing is the neater route when the BSI is healthy.
- Limp mode after someone’s tune. Original file for the exact software number. On EDC17 and MD1 units the software number, not just the Bosch number, has to match.
- Speed limiter. Many fleet vans are set to 90 or 100 km/h. Vmax changes are a calibration edit on the stock file, and in some countries the limiter is a legal requirement on heavier commercial vehicles; a 3.5-tonne van is usually free of that, but check.
- DPF and EGR. Every van in this list from 2011 on has a DPF, and the 2.3 Multijet is a known offender for short-trip clogging. Deletes are a workshop-and-customer decision and off-road only in the EU.
What we need to quote
Year, engine (2.0, 2.2, 2.3, 3.0), the ECU label photo and a description of the fault. A label beats a VIN; two Ducatos with the same VIN prefix can have different ECU software after a dealer update. If the label is unreadable, read the ECU on the bench and send the file; the ID block tells us everything. The label guide shows what to photograph.
Browse by brand on the Fiat, Iveco and Citroen pages, or skip the browsing and send the label through the request form; we answer with the exact file and the tool route for reading it.
